Past Week

Posted on Sun Aug 14th, 2011 @ 2:39pm by Captain Benjamin Byrne

All,
I want to apologise for my absence over the last week - had some sudden temporary work that took up a fair bit of my time, and I also ran into a small bit of writer's block. Regardless, I have some time on my hands once again, and I am going to be diving back into things.

Now, we've got the fancy dinner post and stuff out of the way, and we are now free to start doing all of those posts I have mentioned before - exploring all that the Nevarran Cluster has to offer. Now, we've all got pretty much total freedom with what we each do here, but just to get you started a bit, I've written down a few loose things that we can explore;

- Nevarran technology - how efficient is theirs compared to ours? Perhaps there are some things we can learn from each other? Perhaps they have a unique way of looking at or doing something? The Nevarrans have historically held a speciality with the various subspace-related technologies, so that is likely where they will excel.

- Other systems within the Cluster - If any of you have ever been involved in the Star Wars Combine, I see the Nevarran Cluster much the same as the Hapes Cluster in that self-same game. Made up of dozens of systems and worlds, the cluster will be sufficiently advanced and cosmopolitan for the most part, but some worlds will be particularly good examples of a certain type; for example there would be a number of primarily industrial worlds, a number of agricultural worlds, and so on and so forth. The Cluster is peculiar enough in that it has so many systems within such a small area, but it is also peculiar for the number of rocky planets it has - almost every system has one or more planets upon which life can be supported, and most of the rocky planets can be used for something or another, even if breathing aparatus is required outside of the constructed compounds. Only a few of the habitable worlds have records of terraforming, though they have been in a complete stage for quite some decades, if not longer. There is even one gas giant in the Cluster where a floating city has been constructed, somewhere between a space station and a permanently in-flight large aircraft, which as well as serving as a rather luxurious place to live, 'mines' or collects various gases and elements from the gas giant's atmosphere.

- Nevarran Culture - As we've already touched upon, the Nevarrans are a monarchial culture, loosely based off of ancient English monarchy and the nobility system of the Dragon Age games. They are of course a fully advanced culture, having achieved warp drive before Earth, and possibly even the Vulcans, though they've been stagnant in many areas for the past 200 years due to their isolation. This aspect of the Nevarrans is completely free to explore, since I've not really laid much down for it that we've not seen already.

- Nevarran Archives - This is going to be the main focus for Benjamin, as the Archives house the Nevarrans historical documents, and Benjamin's always been fascinated by archaeology. This aspect will progress on to discovering references to an ancient type of advanced subspace observation technology, which will be the basis of the mission moving forwards. Anyone who wants to be included in this aspect, please PM me.

Of course, you can choose whichever of these to explore that you like, or you can even think of something else to explore if you can - you also don't have to stick to just one of them, so long as the timelines don't overlap and obstruct each separate exploration of yours.

Please, everybody find something they'd like to have an explore of in the Cluster, and start posting about it. We've been freed up from the opening posts of this mission now, and we're completely free to do as we like now. Let's make the most of it.
