Personality Profile
General Overview | Caitlin makes friends easily. She has a sunny, friendly personality, so it takes a while for others to realize that they only know her skin-deep. She rarely offers personal information, stories of her childhood, or other information, because she figures others don't really want to know. While this makes her easy to be around, it's also a weakness.
Strengths & Weaknesses | Both a strength and a weakness is Caitlin's insistence on following the rules. She is a linear thinker, but makes intuitive leaps, causing colleagues to shake their heads, and sometimes confusing them.
Ambitions | While MacKenna does want to advance in Starfleet, she joined mostly for the scientific possibilities, the interesting and unusual things she might come across. Her only real ambition is to find strange new species, plant or sentient, she doesn't care, and discover what makes them tick.
Hobbies & Interests | Violin, storytelling and writing
Languages | Gaelic, Standard, and Latin |
Personal Relationships
Family | The MacKennas are close, in a galactic kind of way. They don't contact each other on a regular basis, but when they do, they pick up where the last conversation left off and keep going.
Relationships | Caitlin doesn't have romantic relationships. She believes her job comes first, and there's time in the future for that, when she isn't going to be stuck on a ship with someone with whom she's no longer romantically involved.
Friendships | MacKenna doesn't build close relationships with anyone, though she works well with almost everyone. Respectful of superiors and inferior ranks, both, she follows orders well, and rarely goes outside the bounds. Two superiors have found this a weakness, because she doesn't act on intuition, her "gut" feelings. |
Personal History
Personal History | Born 2360 in County Cork, in the Irish Republic, MacKenna's early years were carefree. She is the baby of the family, with two protective older brothers and an older sister, which helped her develop a strong will and independence. Both parents were, and still are, research botanists and professors at University College Cork, part of the National University of Ireland. Caitln is not the only child who entered Starfleet. Shannon is Chief Engineer on a starbase and Conor occasionally consults with them as a warp technology researcher. She comes from traditional Irish family values and, as a young woman, was one of the best storytellers in the MacKenna clan. Now she writes her stories and stores them. Caitlin can also play a violin that can make the listener weep, though she hasn't played in public in more than ten years. She still plays for herself, at least an hour every day, in her quarters. |

Education | County Cork Primary School O'Brien Secondary School Starfleet Academy |
Pre-Starfleet Career (If applicable) | None
Starfleet Academy | Caitlin's years at Starfleet Academy were relatively uneventful. The Dominion War ended before her admittance, and life in the UFP has been relatively peaceful since then. She attended in San Francisco and graduated with honors. She didn't stand highest in the class, but she was fifth in standing of the 137 science graduates.
Early Career | 2381: USS Astrogator, Nova Class Science Vessel, newly commissioned. Exploring the edges of Alpha Quadrant on a three-year mission (Biologist - Ensign)
Later Postings | 2384-85: USS Apache Junction, Nogales Class, Perimeter Action Vessel, destroyed in action, most crew escaped in pods, living on the planet below until rescued (Biologist - Lieutenant JG) 2385-2387: USS Allan Hayes, Norway Class Destroyer, Science and diplomacy missions (Asst.
