Captain's Log - Stardate 65842.7

Posted on Sun Mar 27th, 2011 @ 7:45pm by Captain Benjamin Byrne

The Endeavour is successfully able to move under her own power again, and we have made our way to Starbase 427, where the emergency support team shall be leaving us. Unfortunately, the mishap which occurred after our last mission has delayed our timetable significantly. We were scheduled to be escorting a small group of diplomats to the Nevarra Cluster, to partake in the negotiation of a trade agreement with the local race, of whom we have so far had only minor contact with. It is a very time critical mission, and with most of our systems and ship-board facilities operational again, Starfleet has instructed me to continue with the mission plan. Unfortunately, this means that Commodore Varela will be delayed in getting to her own final destination, which we were due to take her to.

Hopefully the remainder of our ship repairs will be completed by the time we reach Nevarra - I would feel embarrassed to represent the Federation on a ship which isn't functioning to its full capacity, regardless of the reasons behind the disrepair. I feel I'm going to have to keep my crew on a tight schedule until we reach the planet; we don't have time to go to collect the diplomats before heading to Nevarra now, so Starfleet has informed me that they have begun making their way to a mid-point rendezvous now, coordinates which we will be able to reach at the same time if we leave port within three days. I'm going to take those three days, and use them to get my crew preparred; some of them are still suffering mentally from the incident with the bugs - which we have successfully managed to transfer off the ship with the support crew - and I feel they may need a bit more time to settle down. I also need to see if there is anyone within three day's travel distance whom I can recruit to replace those we lost in the incident.

Thankfully, after many conversations with Starfleet, I have already solved the issue of Commander Edroski's replacement; I'm sure my new Number One will be pleasantly surprised when he learns of what is in store for him.
