Mission: Old Relics
Location: USS Antartic
Timeline: Current

Kalin Jerome, recently promoted to Lieutenant, stalked the corridor. Here he was on a ship, already a lieutenant, about to be transferred to 'another' ship just a short while after graduating. He sighed. 'Join Star Fleet' they said. 'It will be fun' they said. What they did not say, was that he had to cross many light-years in a short space of time, just get to his new position, and that he would not have a chance to sit down through out the entire journey.

Not two days in, the ship's Assistant chief Medical officer had suffered a fatal heart attack, and accidentally fried one of the medical bio beds. Still, Kalin had some experience in the workings of the medical equipment, since he himself broke one in the Star Fleets Academy's Med bay, the previous year. He soon put it back together, stopped the radiation leak from the various X-ray and Gamma rays from the various tools in the multi tool bed, assisted in the treatment of those exposed to the radiation, before realising that he himself was exposed through out the entire time. Once he was fully recovered, the med team was very impressed with his work, on both the patients and the medical equipment and so promoted his Assisted Chief Medical Officer...He wasn't even supposed to be working on the ship! Not that he complained, it meant that he was now the highest ranking officer out of all his years' graduates at Star Fleet.

This would have been cause for celebration, but no. As he was promoted, he had extra duties, assisting in all the other injuries throughout the ship, and being practically dragged all around the ship. You would think that for a ship as large as this, the captain would have had more medical officers on board. If not, then at least lower the amount of crew that are constantly getting hurt, injured, diseased or depressed. At least Ethan was understanding...Oh wait he wasn't. 'It's what you signed up for old chap'...After giving him a lecture of how his job would be vastly superior to his, he only tripped and fell from one of the engineering riggings. Oh how the mighty had fallen...Literally. Still, nothing was broken. And his pride had almost made a full recovery.

Kalin made his way to the Chief Medical Officer's Quarters. He wanted to know a little more about his new assistant, but the recent...disruption had somewhat inhibited it. He knocked politely on the door, and was answered by a grunt on the other side. The door slid open and Kalin stepped through. A Middle aged man sat in the chair staring at him intently.

"Sir, it's me: Lieutenant Jerome. Kalin Jerome."

Silence followed...

"Sir?" Kalin shifted slightly,

More silence.

"Is this a bad time sir? I can see you're preoccupied-" He was cut off before he could finish.

"Tell me about your self." the Man spoke at last. Kalin gulped.

"Well sir, my name is Kalin Simon Jerome. I was raised on Titan before moving to Earth sir. My family took a trip on an exploration vassal as part of a research team, where my mother died. My sister and I went and lived at the Academy where my Father worked. I graduated with my friend Ethan, and am currently being escorted to the USS Endeavour.

"I read some of your files"

Kalin gulped again.

"Umm...which ones?"

Many Lieutenant. Many.

"Any umm, specifics?

"The one when you got your nick name 'Havoc' but it was a bit of a one sided story in my opinion. So tell me Lieutenant. Why do they call you Havoc?"

"It happened during one night at the academy sir. My sister came to visit me, and I was down at one of the other dorms, celebrating the end of the first year in the academy. I came back to my room, and would you believe it, my sister was there. Sitting on my bed, legs crossed. I have never seen eyes as cold as that before, and hopefully I never will.

"What happened?"

"She was most upset that I came home late, especially when she was supposed to be visiting."

"And then what?"

"It got a little out of hand: she started yelling, and was bringing all hell down on us. The other fellers, seamed to think it was some sort of tavern brawl. I didn't mean to start it, in fact I'm sure it was actually Ruby who threw the fist punch, but well...you know how these things go."

"Quite. So, to recap, through no fault of your own, a massive ruckus was started, and you were left unharmed, with your sister escaping through the back door."

"Yes sir. They knew I had no part in it, but they still blame my luck with the females as the cause of the fiasco. Hence, 'Havoc'. You see the fight spread through to the lecture's quarters. I, my father and another professor included, tried to quiet it down. Well my father did, that is. The other professor was somewhat eccentric, and he joined in. He got several bruised ribs, but he did rather well for a man his age. I think he rather enjoyed it. He was a professor of Ethan's actually. "Professor Albert Rubedo". I'm not sure Ethan even knows yet.

"Any way, we made up and the full story was told, but the nick name stuck."

"I see. You'll be happy to know that your rank will stay when you get transferred to the other ship, USS Endeavour. Ensign Ethan will be joining you as a Matter/Energy specialist.
Kalin smiled. This was good news. If only it would last. He was not known for his good luck. Charm maybe, but never luck.

"You will also be placed as Assistant Chief Medical Officer on board that ship as well. Good luck Lieutenant. From what I've heard about that ship, you'll need it.
