Just a morning

Posted on Thu Jan 5th, 2012 @ 3:35pm by Petty Officer 2nd Class Sophie Blaise

Mission: Old Relics
Location: Endeavour: Various
Timeline: MD 14: morning

:: Sophie's quarters, 0630

The soft classical tune slowly filled the room. Sophie opened her eyes, taking a moment to wake up and listen to the music. Finally she stretched, sat up and threw the blankets aside. "Computer lights, dimmed," she said and got up. The young woman stumbled to the bathroom, while her eyes adjusted to the light. "Ugh, good morning," she said to the reflection in the mirror and quickly continued to the shower. She wasn't really a morning person and absolutely needed a shower to wake her up. So a couple of minutes later she was back in her room, this time fresh and ready to face the morning.

"Bonjour maman," she said to a picture frame which showed a portrait of her mother. A few moments later the picture changed and her father grinned up at her. "Et tu aussie papa," also greeting her father. She was a family person, but after years of traveling she had learned not to miss them that much anymore. Sophie always felt the pictures helped though, so several photo frames were displayed in different places in her room. Not only her family could be seen, but also friends and scenes from her travels. Meanwhile she put on a uniform and went back to the bathroom to finish her appearance.

"Computer, lights off, music off."

:: Mess hall, 0655

One positive thing about starting a bit earlier than everyone else was that the mess hall wasn't that busy yet. Sophie took a cup of coffee, a glass of orange juice and some sandwiches. Her day started well, there was a table available near a window, so she could eat her breakfast while looking at the stars. It was one of the things she liked about space travelling. Somehow she missed the stars if she was planet bound again. She smiled, she liked her mornings like this, nice and quiet, without any problems, so she could easily wake up and focus on her tasks. She slowly ate her breakfast, knowing she had more than enough time before her shift started. Mornings had to be easy, she wasn't going to hurry.

:: Bridge, 0723

Sophie walked from the turbolift on to the bridge. She greeted the acting CO and the present bridge crew. The young ensign behind the flight control console seemed happy to see her. She grinned, she knew that seeing her to him meant that his shift was almost over. She was early though, so the last minutes of his shift might seem a bit longer today. Sophie started the console up and picked up a padd to download some data to it. For now, she just looked at the appointments the captain had for today and other major events planned. She ordered them, prioritized and summarized some and filed them nice and orderly on the padd. Personnel matters, ship procedures, and other things that had happened on the ship since her last shift, would come later.

A couple of minutes before the alpha shift started Sophie picked up the padd and left for the ready room. She placed her information neatly on the desk. At the small replicator she ordered coffee. "Coffee, white and two sugars," the yeoman looked at the clock; a few minutes left, "extra hot."
