Mission:
Divisions
Location: Deep Space 19 - Engineering | USS Endeavour - Engineering
“Affirmative,” Patok replied, “A tricorder has been connected to the conduit that gave us the initial reading. You should be able to patch through the tricorder using the Endeavor’s systems.”
Ethan nodded. "The systems are still rather unique to the systems from the federation - I have had some trouble, but most of the systems have been adapted to work with out tech now, so we should't have any problems on that front
“Of course.” Patok moved to the connected tricorder and tapped in a couple of commands. There was a short whirring hum, indicating that the beacon was successful. This would allow Ethan to locate the device and make a solid connection to it.
He then stepped further away from the device, in case the connection to the conduit could cause any discharge of power. He tapped his comm. “The beacon is in place. One is ready when you are.”
Before receiving a response, Patok tapped his comm one more time, “Commander th'Ralik, we have tricorders in place to trace the origin of the weapons signature. Your presence is welcome to review the results.”
"Understood, Lieutenant," the engineer responded over the comm. channel. "Please begin, and I shall join you momentarily."
"Sirs, I am tagging the beacon now, we should have a lock in a moment, just let me get a reading."
As the Andorian chief engineer joined Malroon at the location the pair had first found signs of the weapon, a subtle hum could be heard around them, as if a new system was powering up, and using a lot of energy to do so. "Ensign," he said into his combadge. "Report?"
Ethan was frantically attempting to regain control of the stations systems, typeing in three different Federation systems and opperating two of the alien terminals at the same ime but to no avail. Trying not to let the uncertainty show in his voice, Ethan replied to the query.
"Sir, I don't know what it is - something's activated - I think you should get down here ASAP - I've lost control of the systems, somethings wrong. I could use a hand here - I have not seen this before. It could do just about anything, and for once I can't make head or tails of the systems. Something is not right!"
"On our way!" th'Ralik responded as he started to rush towards the corridor. Just before he reached the hatchway, the door slid closed, locking itself with a loud clamp.
Patok had not yet looked up from his tricorder when the locking mechanism echoed across the room. His gaze shot up from the device to the Command. If his face was not completely devoid of emotion, it would have been flooded with panic.
There was a low whirring hum of machinery coming to life, and it indicated some style of clockwork movement behind the walls. Patok turned his eyes to the other side of the room in time to catch another exit sealing shut. There was no evident way out.
“Commander,” he said with a deceptive calmness, “It would be prudent for us to find a way-“
He was interrupted by a loud buzzing sound, followed by what sounded like a recorded warning. It might has well have been radio static, as none of the words were recognizable. Still, if the other signs hadn’t been enough, the tone of this voice made it clear that something was seriously wrong.
"th'Ralik to Ops," the Andorian said, moving closer towards the centre of the room again as he slapped his combadge. There was no response. "th'Ralik to Endeavour. Anyone, respond." Pausing for a moment to think, his antennae twitching unconsciously just once, he looked towards the operations officer. "Lieutenant, is the link between your tricorder, the system we've activated and the Endeavour still active?"
Patok nodded initially, and began to fidget with his tricorder before responding. “It has weakened substantially but there is still a connection.”
"Try and tap into it; see you you can interface our combadges and piggy back the signal. Perhaps the Ensign can beam us out of this chamber."
“Yes, sir,” the Lieutenant replied. He tuned the tricorder to focus on the combadge frequencies and attempted to patch them through the already established link.
“Lieutenant Malroon to Ensign Kessel. Can you hear me?”
There was a dim burst of static, followed by silence. Patok glanced toward the Commander.
“Sir, the signal is fading.”
Ethan was franticly attempting to regain control of the systems, but despite the effort was already losing control of what little he had. The usually green crystals were now flashing orange, and then turned a sickening blood red. And with that, a booming voice echoed throughout the room, a recorded message.
"TAR AGGEASH UNG ALR SE'GE. GORTH UL. MNUG NAMU-KOVU "
He flipped out his tricorder - the device was still not programmed with a satisfactory translation device, the language of the mysterious owners of this station was remarkably resilient to efforts of translation... but an inaccurate broken meaning could be discerned.
When the words formed on the tricorder, he nearly dropped it in horror. In panic he tapped his combadge, and almost shouted at the device. "Endeavour! I need two emergency beam-ups ASAP!
While he was doing this, the tricorder flickered in the background.
"Unknown systems breakage detected. Error. Dumping waste fission."
