Medical Supplies

Mission: Klingons on the Starboard Bow
Location: USS Endeavour - Main Sickbay

As Benjamin walked into the main sickbay on the Endeavour, he was pleased as ever with how pristine the place always looked, and how neatly everything was tidied away. Some places on a starship should look a little dishelved; it showed that there were officers hard at work. But in Benjamin's mind, a sickbay that looked as if it had just been unwrapped was something that always put his mind at ease about his medical personnel.

Nodding to a nurse who was tending to a tray of instruments, the captain moved through the sickbay to find the CMO's office, and it's inhabitant since Doctor Rackham was forced to remain in DS19's infirmary after their hazardous away mission. "Doctor," Benjamin said in greeting as he stood in the doorway. He motioned the chair before the desk. "May I come in?"

Kalin looked up at the voice, and placed the touch screen he was typing on down on his desk, next to about four cups of tea; all empty but with a few dregs at the bottom. He smiled as he saw who it was and stood up respectfully to allow the captain to take his seat opposite him.

"Of course, please sit. Is this a medical visit, or would you like to view some of the psychological reports of the crew? It's one of my favorite past times. Ethan's profile is particularly entertaining. Although not as interesting as mine. Would you like to see what the admirals think of you? "Kalin had stood up and made his way towards the replicator, and was ready to order. The corners of his mouth still twitched at his joke. "Tea?"

"Coffee, please," the Captain responded, taking a seat opposite the desk. He'd never been a fan of tea, though a number of his more elder captains were, and he knew many of his classmates forced themselves to develop a taste for the drink in an effort to emulate the successful idols who came before them. "As interesting and tempting as that would be, I'm actually here to speak to you about our upcoming mission."

"Of course sir. " He turned to the replicator for a moment and spoke at it: "Tea, coffee, small jug of milk." The three objects materialized below, and Kalin removed them. He placed the drinks and the milk on his table, the coffee opposite the Captain, the tea opposite him, the milk and two teaspoons in between them both; Kalin was un sure whether the Captain took milk, or kept his coffee strong. He sat down and resumed his seat, this time with a full cup of tea to keep his mind alert.

"Now, what is it you need talk to me about regarding the upcoming mission?" Kalin asked politely.

"Well, as you know by now, we're going to be in a region surrounded by both the Klingons and the Gorn and, put simply, the diplomatic terms between them are similar to the terms that existed between Northern America and Russia's Soviet Union during the 'Cold War' period; there are various little skirmishes, and not much other than our phaser banks keeping the pair of them from going into outright war." The captain took a sip of his coffee - leaving it strong - and swallowed gratefully. "I need you and your staff to make sure that you have all of the supplies and equipment that you need for what has the potential to become a dangerous situation; I'd rather be over prepared than under. And I also want you to take a look through the Starfleet medical staff on Cestus who currently don't have a posting; see if you could do with any of them added to your staff, even temporarily."

"Ah. Oh. Right, I'll see what we may need extra of then. Chances are, 'if sparks fly, someone will be burnt', and I don't want to be out of Hydrocortaline when the sparks are made by Gorn and Kilingons. I'll look through the profiles and see who's there."

Byrne nodded as he stood to go. "Good. Keep me apprised if you have anything to report. We'll also be getting a new first officer aboard soon, so after he reports aboard you can send any crew transfer requests through him."
