New Orders

Mission: They Arrive on Tuesday...
Location: Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: MD08, 0804hrs

As Benjamin entered his ready room after ensuring that everyone for alpha shift had reported to their stations, he found his desktop terminal bleeping at him for attention. Taking his seat behind the desk, he activated the communique and was surprised to see the face of a Vice Admiral fill the screen. It wasn't however, one of the Admirals he'd been speaking to at Starfleet HQ in the past week and a half whilst getting the ship ready for launch. It was a face he recognised; his new fleet Commander, Vice Admiral Roman Sanchez.

"Commander. I hope the call isn't too early for you?" the Spanish-American flag officer asked politely.

"No, not at all. Alpha shift has just started. What can I do for you Admiral?"

"How close are you to launch, Commander? Is the Endeavour ready for service?" The Admiral leaned forward, resting his weight on his elbows placed on the top of his own desk, his gaze intent.

"We're a few days off, still," Benjamin replied. "Most of the major installations have been completed. We're just waiting for a few more minor things to be installed. I'm also missing most of my senior staff still. They're either en-route, or the position is still empty."

The Admiral made a small grunting sound in acknowledgement of the information. "I want you and your ship ready to go in two days, Commander, and I need you to come direct to Cestus III at your best speed."

"Do you have an assignment for us?" Ben asked, his eagerness clearly coming through in his voice and his posture, as he sat up straighter in his seat.

"All in good time, Commander," Sanchez replied. "Just concern yourself with getting here first. Sanchez out."

Ben leant his weight on his elbow, which he placed on his desk and rubbing his chin, making note of the stubble that had grown through. There was a lot that needed to be done for the ship to be ready to leave in two days, and it would need some seriously good organising.
