Mission: Bug-Eyed Bogies
Location: Shuttle Daniels and USS Endeavour Communications Array
Timeline: MD07 1236hrs

Commodore Varela had grown tired of the long days within the Academy walls and longed for some field work that she hadn't had the luxury of in a long while. Managing to rearrange some schedules and plans, she was taking some time off, sort of working vacation to attend an educational symposium that was being hosted by one of Starfleet's allies. To get there however would require much more ingenuity.

Shuttling herself - she had an irrational fear of pilots when in confined quarters like a shuttle, Jovi travelled out to meet the USS Endeavour, commanded by Captain Byrne. He and his crew would be providing her with the majority of her transit en-route to her final destination. As the computer sensors detected her intended ship, she smiled and opened up a comm link.

"Shuttle Daniels to the Endeavour, please respond," Jovi greeted cheerfully and waited.

The response was preceded by quite a long pause, before a voice finally came through. "Daniels, this is Endeavour," The voice sounded very cautious and confused. It awaited a response.

"Happy to hear you Endeavour. Requesting permission to dock," the Commodore replied with narrowed eyes. While the text of the words were standard, the content behind them was disconcerting.

"Negative, Daniels," Byrne responded over the comm. channel. "Permission denied. The ship is under local quarantine. It is unsafe for any inbound or outbound traffic."

Jovi was quiet for a moment before speaking. "Can you please elaborate? Are you in need of any resources?" she asked already plotting how to reconfigure a shuttle for remote navigation.

"We require urgent response from a Starfleet HAZMAT team," Benjamin replied. "Code 7-10, Emergency Code 1."

"Received. Can you give me more information in case teams might require specialized equipment?" she asked back, already putting in a transmission to the nearest starbase for resources.

"They're big-ass bugs, Daniels," Benjamin responded, with the sound of a phaser rifle firing a pulse. "And they're violent. That's all we know presently." Another rifle shot could be heard across the line. "Endeavour out!" The line then went quiet, until less than a minute later, when the ship's quarantine message was activated, and began repeating on all frequencies.

Sighing, Jovi turned in her seat to adjust her navigation coordinates to go off to locate help for the crew of the Endeavour, opening a communication link to the closest outpost or starbase along the way.
