Mission: Kingdom Come
Location: Captain's personal quarters
Timeline: MD02 0206hrs

From: Starfleet Command
To: Captain Benjamin Byrne
Regarding: Ensign Nessa Jenarian

Captain Byrne, it has come to our attention that your ship has recently suffered an assault by insectoid creatures and that your crew suffered injuries. Allow us to be the first to commend you on your quick thinking that lead to the resolution of the issue.

This data feed is related to one particular member of your crew. Keep in mind that the information you are about to read is considered highly classified, and should not at any given time be shared with any other member of your crew, including the person that this information refers to. The only exceptions allowed would be your first and medical officers as long as they understand that the information is to remain confidential.

Ensign Nessa Jenarian is not your average human. She is the product of a genetic experiment that was meant to give us better understanding of our own genetic make-up. The experiment was never meant to produce a fully grown human being, but due to one of the researchers' involvement, it ended up with just that. The details are really not important, but we believe that knowing about the origins of your science officer might prove useful in the long run. As she was an experiment, we are not entirely certain how her body would react to certain stimuli. We believed it would be rather inhumane to attempt to test said reactions. Several things that you might need to watch out for would be:

1. Sexual interest in others.
2. Prolonged exposure to individuals with telepathic abilities in a private setting.
3. Strenuous physical activity - specifically acts that might lead to complete exhaustion.

While we do understand that some of these are hard to control, we thought you should be aware of the risks involved. The original experiment was highly focused on physical strength and telepathy in an attempt to figure out how to possibly augment our own species. While the experiment in and of itself was a failure and the research produced was lost, the unexpected byproduct could exhibit traits that might be dangerous to others and herself. A very low probability has been found that your science officer might spontaneously develop telepathic abilities that she would then be unable to control completely, resulting in possible damage to others. Additionally, she appears to be unable to understand the signs of exhaustion even though her body would be sending signals for her to stop whatever task she is doing, which can lead to complete exhaustion to the point where she might die due to not being able to understand when to stop. Last, but not least, both sets of her sexual organs are highly fertile. In fact so much that she has an almost 100% certainty of producing offspring should she engage in reproduction, even with numerous contraception measures in place. The resulting offspring would not last long as her DNA is incompatible with any other species, thus the child would be stillborn. That is why you might have noticed that she has trouble engaging in social interaction with the rest of the crew. She has been kept in isolation for most of her life with very minimal direct contact with others to prevent that problem. Please keep in mind that she is partially Vulcan, and as such is very likely to go through a process similar to their Pon Farr. We are not certain how often such an event might exhibit itself, nor are we certain that it will happen in the first place, but it might be prudent to inform your medical officer of the possibility and try to devise a way to control the process.
