Mission:
Kingdom Come
Location: Lt jones quarters
Timeline: backpost - 48 hours into repairs
For two whole days alpha and beta engineering crews worked without rest. There was too much work to do and no time to do it. Liz and her teams had done amazing work repairing warp drive functionality so that theEndeavour could at least be one her way.
Now that the ship was moving and shields were at least partially restored, the two hard working crews were relieved and Charlie crew took over the repairs. One hour into Charlie rotation the engineering table began to blur for Lt Jones and she knew it was time for her to rest as well. Logging out of the system she left Charlie crew lead in command of engineering and went to her assigned quarters for the first time.
"Well, it looks like I am home" she said to empty quarters. Quickly she took off the engineering vest she always wore, ordered some quick food, ate it, and then went off to bed. Exhaustion had set in so quickly she feel asleep without noticing the voices of theEndeavour's crew in her head.
Again she found herself in the white exam room on batazed waiting for whatever should happen next. After several minutes the door opened for the doctor to enter the room. "Hello Elizabeth" he said putting on his best bedside manner voice possible.
"Hello again", came her very flat answer. She really disliked normal doctors and this one was here to mess with her mind.
"I have reviewed the latest round of test and they show a slight improvement but not enough." He paused, for dramatic effect or for a medical reason Liz never knew. "I am concerned that you are still trying to ignore you telepathic powers and that is preventing your condition from returning to normal".
He was right, unfortunately for Liz, she had what her people called advanced telepathic potential rating. The problem came from the fact that in addition to that potential she had a rare condition if her telepathy is not channeled appropriately then it would begin to degrade the Nero conduits in her body. "old habits die hard" she finally responded.
the goal is to make sure that YOU do not die my dear girl he thought rather then spoke.
Ok, I will not ignore my telepathic potential but how in the hell do I filter through all the thoughts when I return to the station?
The next few weeks were spent in mental focusing training. It was a long and very frustrating time for Liz and probably not very fun for her doctor either. At the end he pronounced her fit to return for duty but did two things before her release from the Batazed institute of healing. First, he requested Starfleet assign Liz to somewhere other then a star base. Second, he posted a letter to her new Chief Medical Officer.
To: Chief Medical Officer of Lt. Elizabeth Jones
From: Dr Telan, Batazed Institute of Healing
Doctor,
Since you now serve as Ms Jones' medical officer You should know some information. Elizabeth is suffering from a rare Neurological condition, it will not hamper her duties should she perform the telepathic exercises regularly as instructed.
Although she will fight you on this, please continue to run scans at least once a month to insure her neurological function remains unhampered.
I have inclosed all relevant data for your reference and study.
Dr Telan.
